Pottery and me!

Years ago, I went to Capadoccia for a long weekend. Part of our holiday, we visited one of the pottery studios. It was bit of tourist attraction. They let you sit on the wheel and do some objects on the wheel if you can.

I was one of the person, sat on the wheel and made fun of myself. Others luaghed and I laughed at myself as well. It was a different experience. It was even interesting to watch other potters do work on the wheel. Watching how gently they push the clay and change the ball of clay to a bowl or a vase or a plate. I found it fascinating. I could have stayed there and watched them hours and hours.

However, our holiday was not that long. Only thing I brought back home of two big pieces of clay bag which was extracted from Kizilirmak riverbed.I thought I could use the clay at home while I do some objects from clay. But, that never happened.

These clay bags sat in our balcony about a year until I moved to Amsterdam. I had to leave them behind me. Like few other things.

When I was in Amsterdam, I found a pottery course but it had limited resources. I did not have chance to try to do things on the wheel. Until, I moved to UK. Either in Winchester or in Reading, I was so lucky. Each places we lived, we were close to some colleges. That usually allows you do some evening courses in the colleges.

I do now pottery class in the evenings in NewDirections. It is not far from home, and I have such nice and patient instructor. She is good at explaning things to us.

I was hoping to put some of the things I do in my pottery class and also I am hoping to have a studio at home sometime. Then, I could put information like how to create your pottery studio at home.
